Head of Taxation opportunity – London

close up of businessman in suit with earth projectionHead of Taxation required by global organisation to lead, as a member of the UK Finance Leadership Team, a specialist in-house tax function, providing direction for our client’s complex global operations on management and compliance with UK and overseas tax requirements, both direct and indirect.

Based at our clients prestigious offices in East London the role offers a fantastic opportunity to join a multicultural environment. They are offering a salary up to £84K + bonus & exceptional benefits including attractive pension scheme (employer contributions up to 22%) and 32 days holiday plus bank holidays.

The scope of the role includes tax policy and strategy, group tax reporting, charity taxation requirements, efficient structuring of new and existing products, establishing suitable corporate trading entities overseas and management of global tax risks. The role-holder is responsible for ensuring that our client’s tax affairs are managed efficiently to protect its cash flow, funds and reputation in accordance with all relevant policies, laws and regulations.

Head of Taxation – Key Skills & Experience

  • Direct tax consulting knowledge in the UK and at least one major overseas jurisdiction
  • Awareness of indirect tax regimes in at least one major jurisdiction
  • Familiarity with international tax concepts and principles (e.g. permanent establishment, double tax agreements and application of withholding taxes)
  • Statutory legal entity reporting
  • Awareness of OECD transfer pricing concepts and requirements
  • Experience of managing a team of tax or finance professionals to achieve corporate objectives
  • CTA, ADIT or ATT qualification with Chartered Institute of Taxation or equivalent professional body

Head of Taxation – Accountabilities

  • Responsibility for the organisation’s overall tax strategy to ensure compliance with UK and global business and charity tax laws and regulations, whilst legitimately minimising tax costs and optimising the wider group’s cash flow and resources.
  • Advise and inform the Chief Financial Officer and, as required, the wider Senior Leadership Team and Strategic Business Unit heads on tax strategy, global tax costs, material legislative developments, tax risks and relationships with overseas tax authorities as the organisation’s corporate status in key jurisdictions continues to evolve.
  • Oversee consolidated corporate income tax group reporting and contingent tax liabilities for the purposes of the organisations Annual Report and Country by Country Reporting returns completed by regional finance teams.
  • Reporting, as may be required from time to time, on tax matters to stakeholders including the Board of Trustees’ Audit & Finance Committee.
  • Provide expert direct tax advice and clear explanations for the benefit of regional finance colleagues and Strategic Business Units leads in relation to tax structuring of intra-group transactions, income contracts and new business opportunities.

Power BI Developer able to engage with people in the pursuit of implementing a new Power BI path alongside the Head of MIS, whilst also being strong on the technical aspects of the solution.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic international market leader, operating in a high growth market to champion the culture of BI and data visualisation within the company. Based at their prestigious headquarters in Cheshire, our client is offering an attractive salary to £50K + benefits including bonus, pension, healthcare, life assurance and 25 days annual holiday plus some home working.

Power BI Developer will be experienced in developing BI dashboards using Power BI. Candidates’ familiar with the development lifecycle of such reports and will have sufficient business acumen to be able to quickly develop insightful reporting for the business functions. You will be responsible for the delivery of Insights in Power BI.

Power BI Developer – Skills & Experience

·        Experience of Microsoft Power BI in an enterprise capacity

·        Demonstrable familiarity with datasets of ERP systems (serving finance, supply chain, commercial) and CRM system (serving sales, marketing, service)

·        Microsoft SQL (SSMS SSRS)

·        Databases and administration of databases

·        Microsoft Dynamics

·        Familiarity with usage and configuration of ETL tools (e.g. SSIS, Scribe, etc)

·        Microsoft Excel / VBA / Macros

·        Familiarity with using reporting tools existent within corporate software applications

·        Understanding of Google Analytics and other web-driven data

·        Able to direct people and tasks remotely, mainly over Skype

Power BI Developer – Main accountabilities

·        Fully understand the purpose of data visualisation and dashboarding within a global enterprise, and the objectives of the main user types of such.  Must be relatable and be able to partner with those teams and individuals.

·        Help develop the 2020+ strategy for Power BI, from engagement of users, through to management of requests

·        Be the key Power BI point of contact internally with users, superusers, and other system project teams

·        Partner closely with the BI Manager to ensure that there is a roadmap for the development and implementation of key analytical datasets/data warehouses.  Ensure that end-user requirements filter accurately to the technical development.

·        Partner with ERP and CRM system project leads to identify improvements or additional data that can be collected within those key operational datasets.

·        Support other reporting requirements outside of Power Bi on an adhoc basis, which will largely be Excel based

International Tax Manager required by global organisation to join its Group Tax and Status team. International Tax Manager will specialise in tax advice on overseas tax matters for the organisation’s business units and regional finance teams ensuring the organisation manages tax risks, adopts appropriate corporate status solutions overseas and responds to legislative developments in the key operational jurisdictions.

International Tax Manager – key skills & experience

  • Direct tax consulting knowledge in at least one major jurisdiction
  • Familiarity with international tax concepts and principles (e.g. permanent establishment, double tax agreements and application of withholding taxes)
  • Awareness of OECD transfer pricing concepts and requirements
  • CTA, ADIT or ATT qualification with Chartered Institute of Taxation or equivalent

Plus one or more of the following:

  • In-house tax department experience for multi-national corporate
  • Direct/International Tax specialist experience at experienced manager/senior manager level within a professional firm (preferably Big Four)
  • Group tax reporting and/or CbCR experience
  • Experience of establishing new trading entities overseas
  • Experience of preparing transfer pricing documentation and/or managing fiscal audits
  • Experience of multinationals responding to overseas tax changes (e.g. Gulf States VAT)

International Tax Manager – main duties

  • Provide expert direct tax advice and clear explanations for the benefit of regional finance colleagues and Strategic Business Units leads in relation to tax structuring of intra-group transactions, income contracts and new business opportunities.
  • For specific country tax and status regularisation projects, take the lead technical consulting role on taxation aspects (in particular, local direct tax withholding tax and sales taxes), including reviewing instructions to local tax advisers tailored to our specific business needs, challenging and interpreting advice and liaison with country finance, legal, governance and global network colleagues in the Status and Tax Workstream to ensure compliant and tax efficient solutions.
  • Work with regional finance colleagues and subsidiaries accountants, to implement appropriate transfer pricing charging arrangements for intra-group services involving overseas entities to support the Organisation’s overall direct tax strategy to ensure compliance with the UK and Global tax law / obligations whilst minimising direct tax liability and optimising cash-flow
  • Take responsibility for reviewing consolidated corporate income tax group reporting for the purposes of the Annual Report and Country by Country Reporting returns completed by regional finance teams.

Infrastructure Security Engineer – Skills and Experience in some of the following:-

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux (or at least one at advanced level).
  • Competent in installing, configuring and maintaining servers (Windows/Linux).
  • Security auditing from an infrastructure perspective
  • Multi factor authentication implementation
  • Identification of providers
  • SSO
  • Competent in installing and managing web server technology
  • Knowledge of the deployment of application server technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of communications device management and policies (firewalls, switches etc).
  • Strong knowledge of network design and implementation principles.
  • Ability to design and implement resilience mechanisms.
  • Ability to design and manage backup solutions.
  • Knowledge of implementation of EDI, XML and Web Services.
  • Experience with virtualisation tools (e.g. VMWare/Hyper-V etc).
  • Strong knowledge with the configuration of Cloud platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS / Azure).

With regards to technical skills, our client does not necessarily expect candidates to have experience of every item listed. Our client will judge candidates primarily on their depth of knowledge and experience of the items they do claim to have experience of.

Infrastructure Security Engineer – Main Requirements & Responsibilities

  • Candidates need to be proactive, self-motivated and have the ability to work well both in a group and on individual tasks, with a hands-on approach and mind set for improvement and optimisation.
  • Interfacing with multiple internal stakeholders including Development, Projects, Test and Support teams.
  • Interfacing with end users and all other external stakeholders in order to determine their evolving needs including ideal deployment and scalability requirements for new product capabilities.
  • Building and maintaining scalable, reliable and repeatable infrastructure.
  • Ensuring business continuity and systems availability.
  • Ensuring security and adherence to ISO 27001 security standards.
  • Flexibility to on occasion deal with out of hours issues.
  • Work alongside the Infrastructure Manager to deliver the Technical Plan.
